Why
Dee's?
We
firmly believe that creativity adds
something to everyone's life. We also think that providing shelter for
Bluebirds is one way to give back as well as get back.
We use only natural, rustic cedar in our Bluebird and Butterfly
houses. Paint and chemicals used in pressure-treated wood can be toxic
and aren't suitable. Pine is not able to withstand bugs or
moisture in the way cedar does. Cedar weathers to a nice gray color and
even though it is a very soft wood, it is moisture-resistand and is the
most suitable wood for birdhouses. |
Why
Bluebird Houses?
We think
that providing shelter for
Bluebirds is one way to give back as well as get back.
Eastern Bluebirds have seen their populations decrease due to the
pressures of extremely aggressive, non-native birds, as well as
land-clearing practices that we humans do. They truly are one
of the most beautiful of songbirds and in providing them shelter we get
to view them-giving back and getting back.
Thanks to the efforts of many who have set up Bluebird trails, the
Eastern Bluebird is beginning to thrive once again.
